As the HR Intern in our Total Rewards team, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in assisting the Total Rewards team with day‑to‑day operational support for benefits, compensation and recognition, total rewards planning activities, and policy support.

This role is ideal for a new or recent university graduate who is interested in developing foundational HR skills and gaining exposure to strategic and operational HR work in the specialized area of Total Rewards.

The intern will collaborate with Total Rewards Partners to support employee lifecycle activities, HR programs, and data-driven decision-making.  As an HR Intern with Manitoba Public Insurance, you will gain meaningful, real-world experience and bridge the gap between post-secondary and your career.

• Partner with Total Rewards Partners to identify processes requiring formal documentation and collaborate with cross functional HR team members to develop clear, accurate process materials.
• Support the Total Rewards team with updates to systems and tools for consistent and accurate application of our programs.
• Assist with workforce data, reporting, and basic research (e.g. recognition utilization, compensation benchmarking, retention).
• Help interpret and maintain HR policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
• Support onboarding, offboarding, and engagement activities.

• Partner with leadership to develop programs, content and/or support program changes.

Education

• Recent or upcoming graduate from a post-secondary program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Industrial Relations, or a related field.

• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
