Overview

Reporting to and working with the Lead of UI/UX, the Senior UI/UX Designer is responsible for developing comprehensive UI/UX designs for our web and mobile applications.  The Senior UI/UX Designer has deep familiarity and understanding of design conventions and best practices in relation to latest browsers, devices and user experience standards.

 

The Senior UI/UX Designer will be responsible for developing the end-to-end journey vision for product teams with emphasis on the user experience.  Designs created will tackle complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use designs for any audience.  Designs are created based on evidence and industry principles, not only intuition, and refined through collaboration with management and product teams. Able to define and prove what a strong UX looks like based on data and UX metrics.    

 

The Senior UI/UX Designer works collaboratively with the Senior UX Developer to produce designs which balance user needs, business viability and technical feasibility while ensuring our corporate brand is maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality UI/UX output in the form of wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams and prototypes.
  • Establish and define consistent style standards for use throughout our web and mobile platforms.
  • Think through complex data handling tasks and design interfaces that minimize clicks and are intuitive to use.
  • Work effectively with product teams, managers, developers and the rest of the UI/UX team.
  • Present ideas, concepts and designs based on research, customer insights analytics and usability findings.
  • Effectively communicate rationale of designs to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
  • Create rapid iterations that present many solutions to a design problem and show different approaches.
  • Develop comprehensive visual design solutions for corporate materials that clearly communicate messaging, products and services that align with corporate branding.
  • Think creatively to develop new design concepts, graphics and layouts
  • Illustrate proposed concept by creating design mock-ups for project approval.
  • Determine art direction, time frames and cost-efficient methods of production.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma in Digital Media, Graphic design or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years professional work experience in User Interface and User Experience design with demonstrable experience in building design for mobile and browser-based applications.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and collaboratively.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD) as well as Figma.
  • Advanced understanding of how designs convert to front-end development and the limitations.
  • Experience working in an Agile/sprint-based environment considered an asset.
  • Ability to take ownership, creatively solve problems and proactively contribute to business objectives.
