Overview

Reporting to the Director, CX, Strategy, Planning & Execution, this position is responsible for overseeing the enterprise strategic planning functions and ensuring robust governance of the Corporate Strategic Plan.

 

The Strategy Lead functions as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, ensuring that corporate focus areas are translated into actionable initiatives and that decision-makers have access to the necessary insights and governance structures to drive organizational success.

 

The role is instrumental in maturing the Strategy to Execution pipeline process, maintaining and refining the corporate prioritization framework, providing oversight on resource allocation, and ensuring corporate-wide alignment of initiatives during annual business planning and year-round execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Strategy Portfolio Managers and define and maintain the corporate governance framework for strategic planning, enabling alignment through executive decision-making and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Lead regular strategic planning processes, including quarterly Executive Offsites, and annual strategy refreshes, and support multi-year planning efforts, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Ensure the strategic planning and execution process (Strategy to Execution pipeline) is effective, internal-customer-oriented, and fit-for-purpose by refining governance frameworks, improving alignment mechanisms, increasing awareness and understanding, and maturing oversight for execution success.
  • Provide executive-level insights on initiative progress, risks, and trade-offs, ensuring proactive decision-making at the leadership level.
  • Lead the development of the annual business plan, communicating a compelling narrative related to the integration of strategic plan commitments into annual business planning and budgeting cycles.
  • Oversee corporate portfolio governance, ensuring strategic investments align with organizational objectives and business cases.
  • Work closely with executive leadership to integrate corporate prioritization with business planning cycles and financial strategy.
  • Collaborate with Project Management Office (PMO), Finance, and Enterprise Risk Management to align execution frameworks with corporate goals.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree of Business Administration degree (MBA) is preferred.
  • 8 years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, enterprise governance, or performance management within a complex, multi-stakeholder organization, including:
    • 3 years of experience in a leadership role, including oversight of cross-functional teams and direct people management.
    • Demonstrated experience guiding organizations from strategy formulation through to execution, with a proven track record of embedding governance frameworks, performance reporting processes, and prioritization mechanisms.
    • Experience advising or supporting executive leadership and Boards of Directors on strategic issues, including the development and use of executive-level dashboards, decision frameworks, and scenario planning tools.
  • Deep understanding of strategic planning methodologies, governance frameworks, prioritization models, and performance measurement systems.
  • Certifications or coursework in strategy execution, portfolio management, or performance measurement (ex: Balanced Scorecard, Strategy Execution, PMP) are considered assets.
