Overview

Under the direction of the Manager, COE Quality, the Non-Functional Test (NFT) Specialist is accountable for leading NFT efforts within the COE Quality department. The Specialist provides vision and manages the best practice NFT agenda for COE Quality. This involves analysing NFT and test automation trends in the market, introducing new tools and process which will provide highly technical and creative solutions to achieve extensive NFT coverage adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLA)/Operational Level Agreements (OLA). It also involves ensuring adherence to complex processes and facilitating the improvement of processes to ensure maintenance remains viable.

 

This role also provides vision for the technical capabilities and tools that will be needed in the future and provides training and knowledge to the Quality Analysts to enable them to keep up with an ever changing technical world.

 

This role also involves ensuring the consistency and integrity of metric based reporting and controls for management that are produced by the Quality Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements enterprise NFT strategy and is the single point of contact for all NFT related activities.
  • Provides thought leadership and expertise concerning NFT for the COE members and the deliverables.
  • Selects, maintains and integrates the appropriate set of tools, processes and procedures to ensure overall testing efficiency and effectiveness in the operations.
  • Coordinates Quality Analysts and other test team members to ensure performance test scripts and test cases are developed according to the identified test scenarios and test objectives that are in line with the Service Level Agreements specified in the Non-Functional requirements document(s).
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with Development, Product Management and Users to foster a team environment.
  • Produces and maintains Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) around the NFT performed.
  • Manages best in class service quality and manages SLAs/OLAs accordingly.
  • Participates in and facilitates the creation of new solutions for new objectives as the expectations of the team grows.
  • Participates in the overall department's process improvement since many aspects of the COE Quality department can benefit from the expertise and capability of the NFT Specialist
  • Actively participates and engages others in decision-making, information sharing, identifying opportunities for improvement, and resolution of client group concerns

Qualifications

  1. Education:
    • Diploma in Computer Science or related IT discipline.
  2. Experience: 
    • Six years of experience in systems analysis, design, and/or programming including;
      • Three years working directly with Non-Functional testing software.
      • Three years of experience with designing and implementing Non-Functional testing framework from scratch.
      • Two years in a leadership capacity in a Scaled Agile environment.
  3. Technical Knowledge and Skills:
      • Advanced communication skills to convey technical information in a clear, concise and understandable manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
      • Advanced customer service skills to deal tactfully with sensitive issues in a confidential manner and maintain a professional balance between customer and organizational needs.
      • Intermediate knowledge and working experience with latest Security testing, Load testing, Performance Engineer & Performance Testing and monitoring tools
      • Intermediate knowledge of NFT related industry leading tools and familiarity of open source tools (e.g. Load Runner Cloud (LRC), Load Runner, SAST and DAST tools, Jmeter, Quick Test Pro etc.).
      • Working knowledge of Load Test and Test Management Tools (e.g. MicroFocus LoadRunner, ALM, Jira).
      • Intermediate knowledge to perform scripting, debugging and testing using industry leading tools (e,g. JMeter, Fiddler,SOAP UI).
      • Work independently and as part of a team.
      • Establish and maintain effective relationships with leaders, peers and vendors.
      • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications, MPI core software applications used in the respective areas, and budgeting principles.
      • Working knowledge of Autopac On-Line, IWS, CARS, BI3, macro and micro-computer software applications used in the respective areas, and budgeting principle
      • Working knowledge of Duck Creek, Celtic and Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent products.
      • Insurance accounting practices is an asset.
      • Working knowledge of the insurance industry and the related regulations and acts.
      • Advanced analytic and problem-solving skills.
      • Works with accuracy and attention to detail
