Overview

As a Community Relations Assistant, you will bring important road safety messages and information to people of all ages in communities throughout Manitoba. Your work as a road safety ambassador will involve delivering presentations on bicycle safety, cyclists and pedestrians, the importance of seatbelt use and the dangers of speeding, distracted and impaired driving.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a road safety ambassador at trade shows, summer fairs and events throughout Manitoba.
  • Organize and deliver presentations in different regions of the province.
  • Deliver bicycle safety presentations to elementary school children and youth.
  • Prepare reports on events and activities.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or returning to study at a post-secondary educational institution. Recent graduates in the current year will also be given consideration. This position may be of interest to you if you’re studying education, nursing, communications or marketing.
  • Experience in teaching or presenting to audiences of various ages.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and be comfortable driving a van with a trailer.
  • Able to travel all areas of the Province, occasionally staying overnight.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to work extended hours, weekdays and weekends.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office.
  • Able to lift, carry and load equipment (up to 65lbs).
  • Able to speak French (an asset but not mandatory for the position).
