Do you live in Rural Manitoba and want to provide value in your community? The Driver Education department is currently accepting applications for part-time contracted driving instructor positions for the Driver Z program. As a Driver Z Instructor, you will deliver the Driver Z program to high school students in your area. Classroom and/or in-car instructor opportunities may be available, dependent upon location.

• Schedule and deliver weekly instruction in the classroom and/or in-car.
• Establish an open and creative learning environment.
• Facilitate discussions and coach students on program material.
• Use Driver Education software to:
• Monitor and support student progress.
• Enter data and comments.
• Administer, review and grade assignments and/or assessments.
• Administer written tests and vision screening, if required.
• Work collaboratively with the Driver Education team and Driver Z participants.
• Possess a laptop and/or mobile device with access to the internet.
• Maintain a driver training vehicle, if required.

• Be a resident of Manitoba.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience with a valid full stage Class 5 or equivalent driver’s licence, issued within Canada or the United States.
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize workload and manage schedules independently.
• Comfortable with daily use of technology, such as emails and online applications.
• Experience facilitating training/workshops in large group settings is preferred.
• Experience teaching or coaching youth is preferred.
• Professional driving experience is an asset.

Conditions of Employment

• Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry Check as part of the recruitment process.
• Hold a valid Manitoba Class 5F driver’s licence in good standing.
• Maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driving Instructor permit or,
• Qualify for and complete the Manitoba Driving Instructor Training course for class 5 vehicles.
• Maintain a valid Driver Training School and Training Vehicle permit, if required.
• Must be able to work shift work (evenings, and weekends).
