Overview

As the Senior Case Manager, you are responsible for case managing a set of moderate to highly complex injury claims.  In this role, you will advise and assist claimants to support their recovery and access benefits and external resources, reviewing files for potential return-to-work (RTW) opportunities, monitoring rehabilitation and RTW progress and managing claim finances to ensure cost-effectiveness while monitoring for potential claims leakage. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop rehabilitation plans, RTW plans, long term case plans and/or home and vehicle modifications which are tailored to the claimant and their unique situation.
  • Monitor the claimant’s recovery while foreseeing and planning for potential barriers to recovery and benefit closure.
  • Responsible for assisting claimant’s to understand their responsibility for recovery, advise of any changes to their medical condition, and for following the agreed-to actions contained in their recovery plan.
  • Work collaboratively with claimants’ rehabilitation team, facilitate medical consultations when required.
  • Participate in and support the collaborative and collegial pod environment by proactively participating in decision-making, information sharing, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide input to other pod members who are seeking guidance, recognize teachable moments and taking an active role in the development of other pod members.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Medical Rehabilitation (Athletic, Occupational or Physical Therapy, or Kinesiology) or a related discipline.
  • Degree in Business, Arts or related discipline.
  • Case Management certificate such as:
  • Rehabilitation Case Management Certificate
  • Rehabilitation Benefit Administration Certificate
  • Disability Management Practitioner Certificate
  • The National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) designation is an asset.
  • Five years of case management experience.
  • Ability to effectively and critically assess different claimant and case management scenarios and determine possible courses of action, with an understanding of root causes, impacts and consequences of decisions and the ability to apply industry standard case management techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to clearly convey complex information in a concise and straightforward manner.
  • Ability to conduct financial calculations and manage claim finances by maintaining adequate reserves and issuing accurate payments.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel within Manitoba.
  • Candidates must have access to a personal vehicle.
  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s licence.
