  • Overview

    As the Manager, SRE Safety and Loss Prevention, you will be responsible for the operation of the SRE Safety and Loss Prevention unit.  You will set policy guidelines, service standards and develop performance reports.  In addition, you will ensure that agreements with supply vendors align with the needs of customers and the overarching objectives of the department.

    Responsibilities

    • Accountable for the services provided by the unit, including safety and loss prevention audits and the Vehicle Inspection Unit.
    • Participate in the inspections of the largest and most complex SRE customers.
    • Evaluate results, interpret data, conduct trend analysis and provide recommendations for improvements.
    • Research, review and adopt continuous learning specific, but not limited to, risk management and safety and loss prevention for the purpose of continuous improvement.
    • Represent MPI on the Associated Trades Division Executive Committee of the Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA), the MTA Vehicle Maintenance Council and other loss prevention or industry related committees or working groups.

    Education & Experience

    Education:

    • Canadian risk manager designation (CRM).
    • Leadership/management training is an asset.

    Experience:

    • Ten years of experience in a combination of risk management and/or safety and loss prevention roles, preferably in an insurance or transportation environment.
    • Three years of supervisory or management experience, which may be concurrent with the ten years of technical experience.

    Special Skills & Requirements

    • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, provide leadership and influence the development of others.
    • Proven ability to collect and interpret data and assess situations and information to make recommendations for change or improvement.
    • Strong knowledge of the trucking industry including applicable Acts, Regulations, laws and compliance standards.
    • Experience operating in a computerized network environment and the ability to perform operating system, email, word processing and spreadsheet functions.
    • Be a positive and professional representative of Manitoba Public Insurance when participating in industry events, including the ability to deliver formal and informal presentations to both internal and external audiences.
